There are elements involved when it comes to storing memory, namely – chemicals and electricity. Nerve cells are connected to other cells, with the meeting point known as a synapse. When actions are played out, they occur within this interconnected wiring, carrying electrical impulses between the cells. Neurotransmitters which are chemical-based elements, are sent off as a part of the electrical pulse that cover areas between cells, spreading the same to cells present in the surrounding area. Dendrites receive these electrical impulses, which connect themselves to other cells like a mesh, thus spreading the information uniformly.

The memory chamber branches out into various sections, where different areas that we focus on in our lives are determined by how often we do them, or how unexpectedly they occur. For example, driving a car or working out a routine on how you start your day, is all packed into a memory niche that is permanent and unchanging. Routine is usually stored away as concrete information, because we play these acts on a regular basis. Things like education can be recollected later, depending on how we stored the information that was learned, although unless we repeatedly touch upon it, this can be lost and remembered in bits and pieces only. Things like music are also short-term where repetitive exposure to the same determines how we store the information. Practicing a skill, or undergoing training in a field is what keeps our brains constantly tuned in to the same sources, therefore making our synapses stronger when recognizably similar signals are repeatedly sent through the cells.

Therefore higher the frequency of information entering the brain cells, stronger is the connection that is formed. As new information is fed into our brains, new connections are brought to life, where the brain has its way of grouping and filing away all these incoming data. This is how the brain forms memories, where exterior factors like training, practice and regular exposure, determine how we perfect them. Researchers have also pinpointed that how we pay attention to the information that is presented to us, is a huge role player. The more attention is paid to detail, the higher the chances of recording the minutest fragments of a memory.

It has also been noted that women are more emotionally drawn to a situation than men, therefore they can sustain their memory banks longer, when it comes to retrieving information. The brain hasn’t been figured out completely, where scientists will not deny that there is still so much more about this organ that hasn’t been looked into yet. The best way to increase one’s memory is to constantly expose it to things that will keep it fired up – like reading, playing mind games, being physically active and learning memorization techniques to help strengthen one’s memory – not letting it remain stagnant is the key.

Trick #1: The trick involves displaying 2 different boomerangs in 2 different colors. One will be longer than the other. If you want, you can also make the boomerangs with some cardboard or heavy paper.
•Say all the magic words like ABRACADABRA or ALAKAZAM, and one of the boomerangs will become smaller than the other. Let’s see how.
•Both the boomerangs are of the same size. The trick is that the boomerang which is on the bottom will start to appear longer. First, you will place both the boomerangs on top of each other. This will show that both are of the same size.
•Second, you will only take the top boomerang and place it below the other. This will make the illusion of one boomerang longer than the other. When you actually look at both the boomerangs, you will start to compare the arcs. This make the entire illusion possible.
Trick #2: Learn the trick of bending the spoon without actually doing so.
•Place the spoon between the palms of your hands. Grab it properly and put some pressure over the bowl of the spoon. Remember to keep the spoon’s open side up and on a flat surface.
•The top of the handle should not be visible to the volunteer, and hence will be covered with both the thumbs.
•The positioning of the hands is very crucial, so make sure you are not letting any of your audience member and volunteer take a peek. As you are applying pressure over the spoon’s handle to bend, slide the handle into the base of your hands.
•As you hold the handle in your hands, the actual appearance will look something as if the spoon has actually bent. Keep practicing the trick so that it looks believable and also you can reverse the entire trick to make it seem as if you fixed the spoon again.

Whether you decide to trick your guests into spooky domains, or treat them to a plethora of spine-chilling experiences, there are a few steps that need to be followed, and certain requirements to be met, while planning for how to build a haunted house.
•Average Age of the Crowd: Determine the age group you are building the haunted house for. If it is for children, you don’t want to scare them out of their wits. However, you can do the same for an older age group, like your colleagues. Building a haunted house for teenagers is also to be dealt with moderation.
•A Respectable Budget: Before you lay down the plans for your haunted house, remember to chart out a budget that will at least be enough to create the aura of a haunted house. Localize the event to one particular area rather than going overboard and utilizing all the available space, leaving a hole in your pocket.
•Locale: Identify a locale that will live up to your perfect idea of a haunted house. For instance, it could be your own yard, or garage, or your entire premise. If you aren’t on a strict budget, you could rent out a spooky, lonesome house that would give your guests the ‘creeps’. Also keep in mind the number of attendees.
•An Unknown Entryway: Lead your guests to the insides through an unusual entryway, especially if the party is in your own house, as most guests would already be aware of how to go around the house. Instead, use the entrance to the basement or the garage as the main entryway to the party, to heighten that eerie feeling.
•Prop it Up: What is a haunted house without its gruesome props? Depending on your budget, you may want to splurge on mechanized props, such as fog, robot vampires, fluttering bats, etc. However, if your budget is restricted, get creative and make your props at home. Bring out those old sheets, and drape them all over the furniture. Hang old scarves from the ceiling in a single line, and create the element of mystery with your guests having to find their way around. Suspend bats cut-out of black paper, and plastic spiders from the roof. Color your windows black. Create narrow passageways to intensify the feeling of being trapped in a haunted house, among your guests. Splatter some red ink on the walls to highlight ‘deaths that took place there years ago’.
•(Un)Decorate: To give your haunted house a desolate appearance, it is important to get rid of all the knick-knacks that prettify your house, and leave the place looking exactly how it is meant to be – a ghost house! On the other hand, adding flash lights in strategic corners will enhance the ghostly appearance. Leave your music system around to play shrill screams coming from a distance!
•Theme Aloud: Be it Frankenstein, or Dracula, let your haunted house scream a theme with all the related props around. You could even involve some friends, to dress up as vampires to add authenticity to the theme. Have floating plastic brains in jars, and ‘eyeballs’ made from peeled grapes, in places where people will have to touch them, and complete the Frankenstein theme.

Some believe that supernatural orbs are the means by which spirits manifest themselves. They appear in the form of sparks, beads or flashes of bright light and can be captured in a camera or be seen by the naked eye. People consider them as being spirits, who glide through the air either guiding the people in a certain direction or following them. Some believe the supernatural orbs as being the spirits of their loved ones who are present on Earth watching them. They are believed as being the souls of people who once inhabited Earth. Spiritual orbs are also believed to possess the ability of communication with the worldly beings by sending thoughts through different media.

People claim to have been able to photograph the supernatural orbs. They give accounts of seeing orbs with naked eyes and produce evidences of having captured orbs in their cameras. Some believe that orbs come to the churches on Sundays to listen to the prayers.

The important question that is yet to find an exact answer is that about the paranormal significance of orbs. It is still an unsolved mystery whether orbs are paranormal. Recent discussions have considered a possibility of the orbs having an ‘otherworldly’ origin and they not being the result merely of faulty cameras.

Researchers have based their views on paranormal orbs, on the fact that not everything that exists is visible to the human eye. But it nevertheless continues to exist in Earth. Examples of these invisibilities are the different types of electromagnetic radiations that are beyond the spectrum of the visibility of a human eye. On similar line, the formerly invisible orbs could have come in the human range of visibility. The researchers have said that orbs may have a supernatural or a spiritual origin and that they may be visible to some people.

Skeptics believe that orbs are the manifestations of dust particles that scatter light. They believe they are mere reflections from certain objects or images resulting from particular angles of the eye or the camera lens. They believe the orbs as being the result of the miracles of light waves. They deny the possibility of any supernatural power being associated with them. They disagree with the orbs being paranormal. However, the others continue to give claims of having witnessed orbs traveling during the night and give accounts of having photographed orbs. Believe it or not, spiritual and supernatural elements continue accompanying the worldly things on Earth. It is human psychology that is strange combination of intellect and emotion and has given rise to a paranormal world.

Dragon Challenge
This is a dueling roller coaster ride where two roller coasters; the Hungarian Horntail and the Chinese Fireball, inspired by Rowling’s fourth book and the movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. While this may not be the fastest roller coaster in the world, it surely sets your pulse racing! Both these roller coasters reach a height of 125 feet and have a total of five inversions! What makes this ride even more thrilling than probably the tallest roller coaster in the world is the fact that, at one point, these two roller coasters pass within twelve inches of each other! Yes, that’s the whole thrill of riding a dueling roller coaster. It’s little wonder that Daniel Radcliffe himself rode this ride no less than five times! You need to ensure that you do not have any loose articles while on this ride.

Flight of the Hippogriff
This is an exciting attraction at the Harry Potter theme park, because it is a family-friendly roller coaster. You’ll start with Hagrid’s booming voice telling you the right way of approaching a Hippogriff, which was the magical creature that was shown in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. During the course of this ride, you will get to see glimpses of Hagrid’s cottage, his pumpkin patch and even Buckbeak relaxing. It will also give you a lovely view of the Hogwarts castle. This is a slower roller coaster and goes at a speed of 28.5 mph tops.

The Forbidden Journey
This has also become one of the main attractions at the Harry Potter theme park, as you get to see the inside of Dumbledore’s office and Hogwarts castle. There’s the portrait gallery and an exact replica of Dumbledore’s office. In fact, it is Dumbledore who guides you to the Defence Against Dark Arts classroom, from where you go off to tour the place and then, the 3D holograms of the three stars in their Harry Potter avatar ask you to just skip the boring tour and instead guide you to the rides where you take seat on ‘enchanted benches’. You can see dragons, the Whomping Willow from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and even dementors that will try and suck out your soul!

The Ouija board is kept in the center, with all the individuals participating in it surrounding the board. Each of these individuals has their hand or a single finger on the pointer, which may be planchette, a coin or any other pointing device. When you start posing questions, the spirits give the answers by spelling them The words are spelled by pointing the pointer towards the particular alphabets. If you ask ‘Who is the President of the United States, the pointer will move towards the B-A-R-A-C-K-O-B-A-M-A. On the other hand if you ask something like Will I get this job, the pointer will move towards the set of words and point at ‘Yes’, ‘No’ or ‘May be’. There are various customized variations of Ouija boards, which may differ from each other in several aspects, but the common factor among all of them is that they, allegedly, help you to communicate with the spirits from the other world. Read more on how to use an Ouija board.

Is Ouija Board Real or Not?

Even though people who believe in this practice argue that supernatural forces help in determining the answer, skeptics aren’t quite ready to accept their belief. According to the skeptics, the answers which people using the board assume come from the spirits, actually come from the people sitting around the board itself. That may sound a bit strange, but that’s a fact. Though people who have used the Ouija board successfully deny this fact, it is only because they themselves are not aware that they themselves give the answers. Other such paranormal phenomena attributed to ideomotor effect include dowsing, wherein you find water or precious metals below the Earth’s crust with the help of two sticks, and automatic writing, wherein spirit help the individuals to get the answers for the questions they have in their mind. Sounds confusing? Let’s get into the details.

Ouija Board and Ideomotor Effect
Human brain is undoubtedly one of the most amazing things in this world. It can do hordes of things which may look seemingly impossible, without the person even realizing that he is doing it. Among such various amazing things about our brain, one important aspect is the ideomotor effect. Ideomotor effect is a psychological phenomenon wherein a person makes small physical movements in a subconscious frame of mind. It is basically a process wherein we indulge in a physical activity, which is related to our desires or thought process, without being aware of it.

So, does ouija really work? The answers we get from an Ouija board are products of ideomotor effect wherein one of the individual, sitting around the board, moves the pointer subconsciously. Studies by some of the most eminent scientists and psychologists across the world have attributed various phenomena pertaining to paranormal forces, such as Ouija board, dowsing and automatic writing, to ideomotor effect, time and again.

Indeed. And this year, there was plenty of love to go around. Because it fell on a weekend, the turnout at Stonehenge for the solstice this year was larger than normal. Peter Carson, of English Heritage – a group in charge of Stonehenge – noted, “There has been a great atmosphere and where else would you want to be on midsummer’s day?”

At 4:58 BST, the sun rose over Heel Stone, the part of Stonehenge that was built to align with the rising sun on the solstice. Built in multiple phases between 3,000 and 1,600 B.C., no one is quite sure why Stonehenge was built, though various theories assume that it has religious significance or that it was a special grave site. There are 350 burial mounds surrounding the structure. Regardless of why it’s there, Stonehenge continued as a popular destination. Libby Davy, an Australian who lives in Brighton, England, attended the festivities and noted, “It’s kind of a pilgrimage. As a sculptor, I can’t help being interested in the stones – they’re historic, spiritual.”

The sightings of vampires in some way or the other have reinforced the common belief in vampires. Although there is no point in denying that vampire like creatures do exist, you can be assured that they are hardly any different from you and I. Firstly, they do not bite anyone and everyone they come across to suck their blood. Secondly, they do not sleep in coffins or shy away from sunlight. And lastly, they are not immortal or undead, as you might like them to be. Real life vampires can be classified into three types, depending upon their representation of vampire-like characteristics.

People Suffering from Porphyria
Porphyria is a genetic condition which gives a person a vampire like appearance. People born with this genetic disorder are pale skinned, have extreme aversion to sunlight (in fact sunlight supposedly burns their skin), suffer from dementia and madness. The skin near their gums and nail bed retracts, creating an illusion of longer fingernails and fangs. These people are also in constant need for blood transfusions. This genetic abnormality has been discovered only recently. Until then, such people were either feared or ridiculed for being vampires.

In fact, this condition might have been responsible for the origin of the vampire myths and legends. Centuries ago, people were oblivious about genetic disorders. Naturally, people with such unnatural physical appearance were perceived as monsters or more precisely vampires. Besides, the only way to suffice the need for blood transfusion for such people was to drink it from other humans or animals. This further cemented the belief in vampires and made them feared amongst people.

Lifestylers
These people are often responsible for publicizing vampirism on such a large scale. They are fanatics who create a fantasy world around themselves and refuse to come out of it. Often, they are hard core fans of imaginary vampires like Dracula or Edward Cullen, who wish to reincarnate themselves as new age vampires. In their attempt to become vampires, they alter their physical appearance through surgeries. They also adopt a vampirish lifestyle which includes drinking blood, shutting themselves during daytime and venturing out at night. Although, this group is harmless in general, some of them may contribute to murders in their frenzy. Learn how to become a vampire if you want to become a reel life vampire.

Psychic
This is a more serious group of self proclaimed vampires who have certain beliefs about vampirism. These people lack the life essence or ‘chi’, a form of energy. The only way to derive life essence for them is to draw it from others. Since, blood is the greatest form of life energy, they resort to drinking blood from others. However, they only drink a few ounces of blood everyday and more often than not, they have their own donors who volunteer to give their blood.
